Since 2016, every November, I have the opportunity to share with the Grade 4 students at École Mgr. de Laval stories about Jack a soldier during World War 2. Going to École Mgr. de Laval is a little bit different from the other presentations I am doing because this is a francophone school. This means that everything at that school is in French. Yes! in the middle of the prairies we have francophone schools who give the opportunity to students to not only learn a language but also integrate the French language in all aspects of their school day. From announcements, to all academic’s subjects, sports after school everything in this school is in French. This is very different because as you know English is the majority language in Saskatchewan. However, I do appreciate having the opportunity to speak with the students during their English class about Jack’s 6 years’ journey during World War 2 and I look forward returning to this school every year during Remembrance Day.
